Welcome to our Otter Education Pack designed for 1st, 2nd & 3rd class.
We hope you find this resource useful in teaching your class all about our natural world, using the Eurasian Otter Lutra lutra as an example of a native species to protect and conserve. Our Otter character “Attie the Otter” will accompany you throughout your otter learning journey, to share his otterly amazing knowledge with you!
This pack has been created with the objectives of the SESE curriculum, and the two strands living things, and environmental awareness and care in mind.
PowerPoint presentations will teach all about what an otter is, how it looks, where it lives, what it eats and much more! The content can be used as a springboard for your class in learning about native animals and local environments, their habitats and ecosystems, animal behaviour, describing and labelling parts of living things, simple food chains, gradual change in living things, interdependence and interrelationships between living things and developing appreciation and awareness for the natural environment and the need to protect it.
The presentations are packed with photos for visual aid and informative texts for the teacher to read. Interactive quizzes will review your knowledge.
The pack includes fun and educative, printable activity sheets to further deepen and apply the knowledge and skills that have been learned.
We truly hope you enjoy this pack and find it useful for your class’s exploration of the natural environment.
