Welcome to our otter education pack designed for junior & senior infants.
We hope you find this resource useful in teaching your class all about our natural world, using the Eurasian Otter Lutra lutra as an example of a native species to protect and conserve. The aim of this pack is to educate and raise awareness about otters to encourage protection and conservation.
Our Otter character Attie the Otter will accompany you throughout your otter learning journey, to share his otterly amazing knowledge with you.
PowerPoint presentations will teach you all about what an otter is, how it looks, where it lives, what it eats and much more! The content can be used as a springboard for your class in learning about native animals and local environments, animal behaviour, gradual change in living things, interdependence between all living things and developing appreciation and awareness for the natural environment and the need to protect it.
Each presentation is packed with photos for visual aid, and short informative texts for the teacher to read. There are outline lesson plans included overleaf which summarise and explain these presentations.
The pack includes fun, educative, printable activity sheets (including colouring sheets and a prey and senses circling activity) to further deepen and apply the knowledge and skills that have been learned.
We hope you enjoy this pack and find it useful for your class’s exploration of the natural environment.
